About Founder

Pastor Tracey Parris, a native of Brooklyn, NY, is a dedicated servant of God with a heart for the marginalized. Having grown up in the urban community of East Flatbush, Pastor Parris developed a deep love for the underserved members of both the church and the community. In 2005, she relocated to Northern Virginia to continue her journey of kingdom building. Ordained in 2014, Pastor Parris began her ministry career as an administrative assistant, which transformed her character and fueled her desire for greater knowledge in the Word of God. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theological Studies from The University of Valley Forge, with a concentration in Biblical Studies and a minor in Business Management. Certified in Youth Ministry, Pastor Parris has served in various roles, including youth minister, youth pastor, and associate minister. She is also involved in mentoring young women in ministry, facilitating workshops, and preaching/teaching the Word of God. Currently serving as an Associate Minister at Shiloh Baptist Church in McLean, VA. Pastor Parris is committed to her spiritual accountability under the guidance of Rev. Dr. Robert F. Cheeks. In 2021, she launched the online ministry Powder & Prayer Women's Bible Study Group, which developed into Cherith Ministries through faith and obedience to God in January 2024.
